Saturday, June 18 Drag Royalty Storytime for Kids! Session One: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Session Two: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. $15 for Adults (16+ y/o) Free for Children (1 to 15 y/o) Our City, Our Stories Gallery – Third Floor Space is Limited. Tickets are Required. The Kansas City Museum is very excited to present Drag Royalty Storytime, an event designed to encourage early literacy and challenge gender stereotypes, featuring Candice Marie! At Drag Royalty Storytime, drag queens, kings, and more, perform and read stories to kids in a beautiful museum setting! We will have a dance party, and Candice Marie will perform a drag number! Broaden your kid's horizons (and your own) by bringing them to an event at which they can get to know people who defy rigid gender restrictions with glamour, humor, and confidence. This event is recommended for the whole family, and particularly for those with children from birth to fifth grade. DRS is facilitated by the Kansas City Museum, in cooperation with educator and activist Wick Thomas, and theatrical artist Annie Cherry. Feel free to dress up in your most fantastic princess, prince, Prince, animal, or any other costume that makes you feel fantastic! Our intention is to capture the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and to give children positive, and unabashedly queer role models while encouraging literacy and exploration of the theatrical arts.
