Long Beach Public Library Showcases Gale Courses, Free, Instructor-Led Online Courses, For The Month Of June

Press release from the City of Long Beach: June 1, 2022 Long Beach, CA – The Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) is showcasing Gale Courses for the month of June. Gale Courses offers more than 350 free, instructor-led online classes on topics including personal development, health and wellness, creative writing, computer programming, business management, GED test preparation and much more. Gal Courses is available to LBPL cardholders for free through the Digital Library. Coursework is available 24/7, offering flexibility to fit any schedule. "The Library is an integral part of our city's education network and supports our community by offering amazing resources like Gale Courses that help people to learn new skills," said Mayor Robert Garcia. All courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin each month. The courses are entirely web-based with comprehensive lessons, assignments, quizzes and interaction with fellow students. A college-level instructor coordinates every course by facilitating discussions, answering questions and giving feedback. Many courses offer certifications or continuing education units. "Part of our mission at Long Beach Public Library is to inspire and encourage life-long learning in our community," said Christine Hertzel, Acting Director of Library Services. "With Gale Courses, cardholders can brush up on key workplace skills desired by employers while also expanding their own personal development and enrichment. The course catalog offers something for everyone." Library patrons can enroll and participate in courses from home, use the Library's public computers or check out a Chromebook and Mifi through LBPL Tech To-Go.
