PORTLAND, OR — Portland is one of seven cities competing for the chance to host the NCAA Women's Final Four, the organization announced Wednesday. The NCAA will pick five cities from the seven to host the Final Four from 2027 through 2031. The other cities are Columbus, Ohio, Dallas, Indianapolis, Sacramento, San Antonio and Tampa, according to the NCAA. The NCAA said that while Portland and Sacramento are looking to host their first Women's final Four, Indianapolis, San Antonio and Tampa have all hosted three times, Dallas hosted once and is scheduled to host again next year and Columbus has only hosted once. If Portland gets selected to host one of the years, the games will be played at The Moda Center, the home of the Portland Trail Blazers. "We are grateful to all of the cities that submitted bids to host future Women's Final Fours," Nina King, chair of the committee and athletics director at Duke said in a news release. "The increased interest in this bid cycle, from so many cities throughout the country, is a result of the continuous growth of women's basketball and support for this premier national women's championship. "We are confident that a Women's Final Four held at any of these sites would flourish." Portland and the other cities have until July 1 to submit their final bids, the NCAA said. The NCAA said that officials will then visit each city in August and September. In November, each of the cities will make presentations to the election committee. The selected cities will then be announced by the committee, according to the NCAA.
