LA GRANGE, IL – A La Grange man was arrested last month after he threatened to shoot a woman outside his house, police said.
Ryan Smith, 29, was charged with simple assault and criminal damage to property.
Through a public records request, Patch obtained the full police report.
Late the afternoon of May 20, police were called to a disturbance in the 100 block of East Avenue.
A woman told officers she was picking up another woman at Smith's house. Smith and the woman at his house were arguing when her ride arrived, according to the police report.
The driver stayed on the front porch because she said she was worried about the other woman.
According to the report, Smith told the driver, "I'm going to go in the house and get my gun to shoot your car up if you don't leave. You got me arrested the last time."
Smith was arrested in March on a charge of domestic battery.
After the woman returned to her car, Smith left his house and punched the woman's windshield, damaging it, police said.
The woman told officers that Smith did not touch her, but she wanted him arrested for the threat and the damage to her car.
In an interview with police, Smith said he returned home from work and saw the woman who was picking up the other woman, police said. Smith said a man he did not know was in the front passenger's seat.
He denied threatening the woman.
"I may have told the dude I would fight him. I did break her car window, but I didn't mean to," Smith said, according to the report. "I pounded on it one time, and it broke while I was trying to get them to leave."
