ELMHURST, IL – The main work on the First Street bridge in downtown Elmhurst is slated to start June 13.
With the help of state money, the city is restoring the First Street bridge over Robert Palmer Drive.
This week, the city is installing fall protection netting under the bridge in preparation for the project, the city said in a statement. This will involve a lane closure on Robert Palmer in each direction through Friday.
After June 13, the First Street bridge is set to be closed. A detour route using Schiller Street will be in place, the city said.
The work is expected to be done by the end of July.
