Press release from the City of Champaign: On October 7, 2021, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 500 block of West White Street for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located 42-year-old Charles Evans in an alley suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. Responding officers rendered medical aid until Evans was transported to a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries a short time later. This press release was produced by the City of Champaign.
