Description
Hello. We adopted a rescue dog a little over 2 months ago. He's CUTE! - about 1 year old, 17 lbs, Jack Russell Terrier Mix. Unfortunately, he was under socialized as a puppy and despite our best efforts he remains reactive, aggressive toward people outside his "pack", and ended up biting one of the neighborhood kids who entered our yard (skin was not broken, but very bruised). We have decided that we can not keep him, as we have kids opening doors, an unfenced yard, and we do not want to risk another bite.
That all being said, I think a dedicated dog-person who is committed to helping aggressive/problem dogs might be out there. This pup is very loving toward his people. He is curled up next to me as I type. He knows basic commands and is mostly potty-trained (with ample opportunity to go outside). I think a SERIOUS dog rescue person/professional, someone who is home more, an adult household, someone who is willing to crate him when guests come over, etc. might work.
I have contacted the rescue we got him from and many local rescues and so far nothing has panned out... rescues do not like to take dogs with a bite history. Though hesitant to post him on Craigslist, I am running out of options.
He would come with a crate, food, leash, etc. He is up to date on vaccinations/vet stuff.
