Description
PRESENTING:The 2022 Reshaping Rochester Lecture Series concluding luncheon event with Gehl Director Anna Muessig, Zoomed in!We are excited to host this luncheon, our first in person event in over two years, at the Memorial Art Gallery! Please note that featured speaker Anna Muessig will be presenting remotely from San Francisco. That said, there are multiple opportunities for direct, interactive engagement with Ms. Muessig including a live Q&A following her presentation! The walls of our public realm are the facades of our city’s buildings, while the floor comprises our lawns, our streets, our sidewalks, our parks. These edges must always be crafted with an eye on beauty, accessibility and particularity. Through this year's lecture series we will unpack what it means to be "ideal," explore cities that would be categorized as ideal, and ask if/how our own community could become ideal. Anna Muessig | San Francisco, CADirector at Gehl, San Francisco Anna is an Urban Planner specializing in creative placemaking, cultural programming, and economic development. She is passionate about making cities more inclusive through the intersection of urban policy, design, and the arts. In her professional and academic work Anna has been on all sides of the urban development process, from community organizer to researcher to urban designer, and brings an understanding of how coalition building, economic rationale, and design work together to revitalize neighborhoods and downtown areas. As an Urban Planner at Gehl, Anna brings five years of professional experience managing teams and solving complex urban problems with diverse stakeholders. She enjoys finding the appropriate solution to a challenge, including managing sensitive relationships with clients and the public. Some of Anna’s previous projects include investigating the impact of Minneapolis’ creative economy, urban strategy for New Orleans commercial corridors, the urban design of manufacturing in San Francisco and Brooklyn, organizing a Brooklyn food co-op, and a large-scale night-time public art event in Brooklyn. Anna has a deep curiosity in what makes cities tick, and a desire to use this knowledge to make cities more vibrant, equitable places. This curiosity was developed in the beautiful and fascinating city of Minneapolis, MN, and fed by travels to cities around the world. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ SCHEDULE:11:30am - 11:55am Check-in and Networking 12:00pm - 1:30pm Program ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ MEALSeasonal Grain Bowl by Brown Hound Downtown Catering - brown rice & quinoa topped with spinach, tomatoes, asparagus, & peas with a honey/raspberry vinaigrette (vegetarian & gluten free) Bread, dessert, and beverages also provided. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ TICKET NOTES:Luncheon ticket purchase includes free same-day museum access!
