ORANGE, CT — Perhaps the town's biggest-ever celebration recently received a major fiscal boost from Orange's top governing body.
The Orange Board of Selectmen last month approved a $20,000 donation to organizers of the Orange Bicentennial Concert and Fireworks Show, which will take place Saturday, July 9.
The celebration of the town's 200th birthday will take place at 6:30 p.m. that night at the Orange Fairgrounds, 525 Orange Center Road.
Musical performances will kick off the festivities while a large fireworks show will culminate the celebration.
And when that happens, it will do so with the help of the town, with selectmen May 11 unanimously approving the donation, according to meeting minutes.
That wasn't the only action regarding the July 9 celebration selectmen did that night.
In addition to the donation, selectmen approved a vending license for Howard Dragunoff of Action Enterprises out of Woodbridge to sell novelties during the event.
That motion also passed unanimously May 11.
