Description

Dealing with darkness...?While it's true that there are fewer plants that flower in shade, we can help you understand how to create a lush mixture of plantings, using height and texture variations, to create a beautiful, low maintenance backdrop that makes a few key blooms stand out. Yes, you do have many choices! Join NHG's Education and Outreach Coordinator Rusty E. Allen to thoroughly examine the possible design elements, quantify and evaluate how much shade, and the special needs of the soil for plants to grow successfully in half a day of sun or less.  Then, you'll see the many plants and a few tough Texas natives that are perfectly adapted to shady conditions, plus those that offer rewards to birds and other pollinators.  Also included is a shade plant showcase of what's in stock right now for summer into fall planting.Let us inspire you to grow a shady oasis in your landscape in this FREE class! NOTE: THIS CLASS IS INDOORS IN OUR CLASSROOM. A TICKET IS REQUIRED TO GUARANTEE A SEAT. As attendance is limited, we encourage you to register early and read our newly updated ticketing procedures. IF THIS EVENT HAS SOLD OUT, we welcome you to attend if we have not reached stated capacity within 5 minutes of the program starting, and if there is still available space. HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY: NHG encourages all our guests to be safe and our classroom capacity has been reduced as a precaution.
