Press release from the City of Iowa City: May 27, 2022 The City of Iowa City is now accepting applications from organizations for the use of federal HOME-ARP funds to address the needs of households experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations. Applications will be accepted online beginning May 27, 2022, with a due date of noon, June 14, 2022. Organizations can apply for HOME-ARP Funding at icgov.org/actionplan. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 ("ARP") appropriated $5 billion to communities across the U.S. to provide housing, services, and shelter to individuals experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable populations. These funds were allocated by formula to jurisdictions that qualified for funding through the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME Program). The City of Iowa City expects to have $1,521,981 in HOME-ARP funds available for allocation in a competitive funding round. The City will consider the following eligible activities: Development and support of affordable housingTenant-based rental assistanceProvision of supportive servicesAcquisition and development of non-congregate shelter units Additionally, approximately $89,000 of HOME-ARP funds are available for non-profit operating and capacity building, so long as the applicant is carrying out one of the above eligible activities.Applicants are encouraged to contact Neighborhood Services staff with questions about the funding or application process at 319-356-5237 or [email protected].
