Description
GRESHAM, OR — REAP Inc., a Portland-based nonprofit that assists children in third through 12th grades, received a $5,000 donation from State Farm last week. The donation was made as part of the company's 100th anniversary celebration.
The presentation took place Friday outside of REAP's office in Portland.
Daniel Shelton, REAP's Youth Services Manager for the Centennial and Gresham-Barlow school districts, thanked State Farm for the donation.
"We work at making sure our students have a voice, can be heard, and opportunities like this help," Shelton said.
REAP was started in Portland in 2001 and has programs in 24 schools in Clackamas, Columbia, Multnomah and Washington counties. It focuses on helping students of color with programs that teach leadership and health that are open to all.
Gresham State Farm agent Rob Hendrickson was on hand to prevent an oversized check to mark the donation.
"State Farm picked 100 agents nationwide who are involved in their communities," Hendrickson said. "I am so excited to present this $5,000 to REAP Inc."
