ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a fired worker, domestic disturbances, a threat, theft, fugitive drivers and a gift card scam. Here is information from the latest reports: Fired worker A man fired from Super Ego Holdings, 155 W. Industrial, was walking through the business shortly before noon Thursday. He was found and told that he was no longer wanted on the property. He was issued a no-trespass notice. Domestics Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Geneva Avenue. A woman told officers that a man swung and struck her. The man said his argument with the woman turned physical when she battered him. No arrests were made because of conflicting statements. Both parties agreed to separate for the night. Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of West Montrose Avenue. A person told police that a suspect was drunk and acting erratically. Neither party alleged any physical contact during their dispute. They agreed to separate for the night. Threat An employee at 7-Eleven, 155 E. First St., told police that a customer threatened to harm him about 11:30 p.m. Friday. The employee was familiar with the customer, who has come into the store before. Police could not find the person. The employee did not want to press charges, but asked that officers serve the suspect with a no-trespass notice. Disturbance A woman caused a disturbance about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Old Havana Cigar Shop, 189 E. Butterfield Road. She was given a no-trespass notice. Theft A man opened an overhead garage door and stole a Milwaukee band saw and right angle grinder kit about 11:30 a.m. May 9 at ChemStation, 934 N. Oaklawn Ave. The incident was reported more than two weeks later. The suspect was described as dark-skinned, heavy-set and having facial hair. An investigation is pending. Edible Arrangements, 206 N. York St, told police that catalytic converters were removed from its work vans between May 21 and May 24. Fugitive drivers An officer tried to stop a speeding motorcyclist about 12:30 a.m. Sunday near North and Route 83. The man rode away from the officer. The man was described as white, 20 to 30 years old, and wearing a black, full-facing-covering helmet, a gray shirt, blue jeans and black boots. A driver was stopped for speeding about 9 a.m. Sunday at York and North, then sped away east on North. Gift card scam A resident in the 100 block of North Evergreen Avenue told police Friday about buying gift cards upon receiving a fraudulent text message from someone claiming to be with Amazon. Virtually any transaction requiring the purchase of gift cards is a scam. Underage drinking An intoxicated 19-year-old man from Elmhurst was found about 2:30 a.m. Friday lying on the parkway in the 600 block of South Hawthorne Avenue. He told an officer he was waiting for his Uber. The man, who admitted to drinking earlier in the night, was released to his father. He was cited on a charge of consumption of alcohol by a minor.
