WEST VILLAGE, NY — Kesha will be performing live in the West Village for Stonewall Day, which was established five years ago to honor the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The performance will take place outside of Stonewall Inn during Pride Month on June 24. "I am so honored to be a part of this historic event," Kesha said in a statement. "As a forever advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, I'm excited to embark on this monumental occasion with my friends at Pride Live and perform for Stonewall Day." Other performers on the day will include Betty, Mila Jam, and Shea Diamond. There will also be some seriously big names sending their support through video messages. The likes of Barack Obama, Adam Lambert, Billy Porter, Rufus Wainwright, Chelsea Clinton, and Tom Daley will all share a message with the crowd. More than 1.3 million people tuned in to watch Stonewall Day in 2020, making it the No. 1 virtual event of that year, according to Pride Live. Stonewall Day celebrates and honors the Stonewall legacy and commemorates the riots that took place in the early hours of June 28, 1969. The moment is commonly thought of as the lead catalyst for the gay rights movement and the modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. Pride Live is expected to release ticket information soon, and the event will also be streamed live on its YouTube channel. The concert will go from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 24 outside of the Stonewall Inn at 53 Christopher St.
