DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn kids under the age of 13 can enjoy the city's pools for free after city officials waived the $55 fee pool admission fee per child. In order to use the city's public pools, residents must get a pool tag from the service desk at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., or between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Dunworth Memorial Pool will also give away tags to residents. To obtain the pool tag, residents will also be required to show proof of residency in Dearborn. Residents can use a driver's license (of a parent or guardian) or a school ID. Five pool tags can be issued per one ID. Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud said he took inspiration from his own childhood in putting together the free pool program. "Growing up, going to the community pool every day was not an option for my siblings and I," Hammoud said. "The cost of the daily admission for multiple children was too much, and the one time cost for a family pass wasn't something my parents could afford at the time."
