When someone claims that a country is "Self Reliant" when it pertains to oil - it infers that that country produces all the oil it needs. We haven't been " self reliant" when it comes to oil in decades. IF we were - we wouldn't be buying foreign oil from any country. As it is - we've been buying oil from foreign sources continuously for decades. Just because someone claims we have been " self reliant" pertaining to oil doesn't make it so.
