Under the supervision of the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, grounds keeper performs routine, manual labor involved in golf course or grounds maintenance. Operates small hand powered equipment and performs work involving large equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, and gang mowers. Job Functions 1. Operates mowers and string trimmers on grounds including around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, cart path edges. Also rakes, edges, and weeds sand bunkers. 2. Sets tee markers and cups, maintains ball washers and tee towels, fills divots on tees and fills divot mix containers, empties litter cans, general policing of grounds including garbage, pine cones, pine needles, leaves, and branches. 3. General maintenance of club house landscape, main road, cart paths, trees, Brook Lodge, parks and restrooms. 4. Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems, failure, or regular maintenance to equipment manager. 5. Returns all equipment to the designated area at the maintenance facility cleaned and ready for the next use. 6. Water grass, trees and shrubs on golf course and grounds as directed. 7. Marks the golf course for cart control, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs. 8. Regularly checks hazard markers and drop area signage. 9. Helps in project work, assists in any new construction, grades and prepares soil base and lays sod as needed. 10. Helps or assists other department managers as needed. 11. Operates mowers, trucks, or other light equipment. 12. Some weekend work is required and work schedule must be flexible. 13. Performs other duties as directed by the assistant superintendent. Employment standards 1. Knowledge of methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area construction/ maintenance work. 2. Working knowledge of and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment. 3. Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment. 4. Physical strength, stamina and agility. Ability to move heavy objects and able to perform occasional heavy manual labor. 5. Ability to follow oral and written directions. 6. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationship with other employees and the public 7. Possession of a valid driver’s license. 8. Hours of work are Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm and Every other Saturday 6:00am-9:00am.
