Description
Participants needed for a Military Nutrition Research Study to determine the effects of a prebiotic and probiotic nutritional supplementation on gastrointestinal health, mood, and cognitive function. You may be eligible if you:
• Are a healthy male or female, 18-39 years old
o Females must have regular menstrual cycles
• Meet Army weight for height and body composition standards.
• Physically active
o If civilian, ≥ 4 days/week aerobic and/or resistance exercise
o If military, must have passed most recent Physical Fitness Test
• Have normal vision (with or without glasses) and hearing
• Are not vegetarian and not following a highly restrictive diet (e.g., keto or Paleo diet)
• Are willing and able to:
o Eat the study nutritional supplement
o Eat a provided diet for 7 days
o Not consume probiotic containing foods like yogurt, and not take dietary supplements at least 2 weeks before and throughout study participation
o Not consume caffeine or use any nicotine-containing products for two non-consecutive weeks of the study
Commitment time is up to 6 weeks (includes about 20 visits and 25 hours in the lab). This study takes place at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine in Natick, MA.
You may be compensated up to $660 (up to $500 if active duty military or federal civilian employee) for completing the study.
