MILL HELP, YARD HELP & FLOATER POSITIONS AVAILABLE! Keiver-Willard Lumber is seeking someone to work in our lumber yard, sorting and tallying lumber orders. This job requires a significant amount of physical labor and generally consists of moving lumber, by hand. This person would follow a shippers instructions and aid in all areas required to maintain high production levels. Job Duties & Responsibilities Preparing piece orders, based on a customer's requests Preparing orders for millwork production. Sorting lumber after manufacturing Helping shippers to move materials while being graded Helping shippers to keep work areas clean and safe Aiding all shipping and millwork staff in maintaining high production volume The basic function of the Machine Operator is to assist in all operational aspects of the Millwork Department under the direction of the Mill Foreman. Specifically, the Machine Operator will operate all machines and equipment on his/her assigned production line, including repairs and maintenance to ensure safe operation of equipment. Machines used in this facility are planers, rip saw, table saws, sanders, and molders. This is almost exclusively a “hands on” position requiring manual labor as well as good organizational skills. This position also requires that the individual give direction as needed to the Handler(s) assigned to their work area. Responsible for contributing to the production goals and objectives of the Millwork Department as set forth by the Mill Foreman and upper management of the company. Responsible for carrying out assigned tasks in an efficient manner consistent with established standards of the company. Operating, maintaining and repairing high speed woodworking machinery in a safe manner consistent with established safety policies and procedures. Responsible for carrying out these tasks using any reasonable action necessary so long as such action does not deviate from established company policies and is consistent with sound business judgment. Set up and operate all planers, saws and equipment on his/her assigned production line. Grind and replace, as needed, planer knives. Replace as needed, saw blades. Perform routine daily maintenance on all machines and equipment of assigned production line. Recognize and alert the Mill Foreman of any mechanical defects on assigned machines and equipment. Keep work area neat and orderly. Skills & Abilities Applicant needs to be physically able to perform the job functions, including standing all day and the ability to lift 75 lbs. Must be able to read and write English Must be a high energy, motivated individual Education & Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent Licensing; Forklift license is required. Must be able to operate a forklift safely, free from the influence of alcohol or drugs. Carpentry or construction experience helpful One year of handler experience preferred but will train Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $16.50 per hour
