Why I no longer own guns

Description

I used to have guns and I know what a gun owner thinks about every time he/she looks at their guns. Using them. And there's only one purpose for guns. Killing things. Liars will say they only fantasize about killing animals in a hunt. Bullshit. You can't control your mind that way. People will think about using them on other people without exception. They may fantasize about what would happen if someone tried to break in to their house at night but it doesn't stop there. They'll think about being confronted at the door by the government coming to take their guns from them and how they'd react by opening fire on the police. Just read all the posts about the intense fear gun owners have of this scenario and it's obvious they think about it several times every day. They'll call it being prepared. Anyone else would call it violent fantasies. Owning guns leads down a very dark road that only gets darker the further you go. Fantasizing every day about killing people normalizes the idea until it no longer seems irrational. As a former gun owner who has had conversations about this with friends and family members that own guns, I know this is pretty universal. What else would you think about when looking at a gun? Gardening? I haven't owned a gun in many years now and I long ago stopped looking at every situation with a risk assessment attitude like I did when I was carrying a licensed gun with a concealed carry permit. People are no longer viewed as possible threats I may need to take down. They're just other shoppers buying groceries now. Consequently, I don't feel threatened all the time like I did when I was thinking about guns and I've realized that I was the real danger.
