Description

Are you a psychotherapist, counselor, teacher, healer, parent, or caregiver? Are you struggling with secondary trauma from clients or family members, external stressors, or post-COVID work-life balance? Have you been giving more of yourself until you feel you have nothing else to give? Renew and recharge with us at Dream Catcher Meadows. Find stillness withing, replace overwhelm with silence, enhance your energy and improve your functioning. Learn the science behind the gut-brain-immune connection with the soil microbiome. Attune with your own energy source through a silent, mindful tour of Dream Catcher Meadows - exploring all stages of nature. Meditate with the chickens, share an in-ground compost demonstration with our rescued pig, and forest bathe with the horses and goats. Tune into your own frequency and resonance through entrainment with the animals in our multisensory setting. Use guided imagery to more mindfully connect to yourself, your clients, your children, your partner, and the wider community with compassion and gratitude. This 4-hour nature-immersive experience incorporates didactics with experiential learning on a green care farm animal sanctuary in Potomac, MD. Dr. Rich, founder of Dream Catcher Meadows, and her colleague - Navajo Shaman Chester Brown, combine their 50+ years of teaching, coaching, and healing to impart practical ways of incorporating traditional indigenous philosophy into daily life. Their aim is to teach others how to live more gently on Mother Earth and inspire humanity toward meaning and purpose in life. Dr. Rich will provide a brief history of the farm, inspired by her work with children affected by prenatal alcohol exposure and trauma, and an overview of farm animal assisted psychotherapy. She will discuss the healing aspects of nature on one's gut microbiome (regulating 90% of our serotonin and 50% of our dopamine production) and the epigenetics of mindfulness - how deep breaths benefit our mind health and even our future generations. Chester will provide a 90-minute didactic based on traditional Navajo shamanistic practices and decades of martial arts and healing. As an executive coach, Chester will share helpful strategies to simplify life and regain a sense of wholeness in mind, body, spirit and hearth for health. Following the didactic, we will tour the farm, including an in-ground compost demonstration - teaching ways of making your own soil at home from your own kitchen refuse. We will visit the Medicine Wheel meditation garden, practice mindfulness in the barnyard with the chickens, forest bathe with the horses and goats, and share in an optional dinner with a 2-hour healing circle drumming session by the neighboring pond (for an additional cost of $30). We will explore the connection between all things and our own lives while immersed in the natural world. A rain date will be Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the same time (2-6 pm with optional dinner and drumming from 6-8 pm at $30). No refunds will be offered. If you are unable to attend, we will accept your payment as a donation to the nonprofit.
