Parakeet Needs New Flock

Description

My parakeet has been my companion for 6, almost 7 years now while I was in college. Now I have a full-time job in another town and can't give him the attention he deserves. (This is an extremely hard decision for me to make). Social Info: My parakeet is very human bonded- he will give kisses, step up on your hand, leave the cage, share his toys with you/play with you, etc. He has had 2 cage mates before, both rescues. When he was placed with a older male, he did very well with his cagemate until their passing and was happy to share his cage. When placed with a younger female, he pestered the female constantly until I rehomed her for her sake. His birdy manners are questionable but I've never seen him do anything like draw blood, bite his cage mates, or get into a "real" spat. Health info: My parakeet is still healthy at right about 7 years old, so I guess he's an older man now. He's never struggled with wheezing, colds, infections or anything like that. He does eat mostly seeds as he is very fruit/veg resistant, but he loves leafy greens and takes his vitamins OK. His favorite food is dandelion leaves from my backyard. He could live another year, or another 4-5 years. My guess is the latter. No rehoming fee for the right home. All I care about is finding a better life for my bird. You can have his giant cage (made for conures), all his toys, food, etc.. Ideal home has two or more established parakeets already OR no parakeets and a human who is at home most of the time.
