School Shooting Threat On Social Media Leads To Arrest Of Lutz Man

LUTZ, FL — Less than a week after 19 children and two adults were killed in a shooting massacre at a Texas elementary school, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested an 18-year-old Lutz man in connection with a school shooting threat. According to Sheriff Chad Chronister, detectives received a tip Sunday about a school threat and, while investigating the tip, discovered photos posted by Corey Ashton Anderson of Dennison Road on social media of himself holding what appears to be a handgun and a rifle and wearing a tactical-style vest. The photo included the caption, "Hey Siri, directions to the nearest school." Detectives arrested Anderson around 2 p.m. Sunday and charged him with making a written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism. Detectives later learned that the rifle and handgun were airsoft guns used for combat games and training. Anderson is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail on a $7,500 bond. "This type of threat is unacceptable," Chronister said. "This man intentionally instilled fear into our community as a sick joke, but be warned, this is no laughing matter. We will do everything within our power to apprehend, and pursue charges on those who make school-based threats. Protecting students is our greatest priority. We take school threats very seriously.
