NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating three Memorial Day weekend shootings, police said. The first, on Friday, drew cops to Market Street, between Main and Monroe streets, according to New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway. In that incident, a 22-year-old New Haven man was shot and taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and listed in stable condition. Just before midnight Saturday, patrol cops heard gunshots around Sylvan Avenue when they heard gunshots and got a Shotspotter alert of gunfire, Shumway said. On Sylvan, between Orchard and Vine streets, an 18-year-old New Haven woman had been shot, and was taken to the hospital where she's listed in stable condition, police said. Late Sunday afternoon, police got a call from Yale New Haven Hospital that a gunshot victim had come into the hospital. A 26-year-old New Haven man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A crime scene was located on Howard Avenue, between 2nd and 3rd streets, Shumway said. In all cases, the Bureau of Identification responded and collected ballistic evidence and, New Haven police detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading investigations.
