MERIDEN, CT — A person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed during a domestic violence incident Sunday in Meriden, according to police. Police responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing victim in the area of Camp Street at Colony Street. Arriving officers found that the victim was suffering from a single stab wound, according to police. Police said the officers attended to the victim's wound until medical personnel arrived at the scene. The victim was then taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries, according to police. "A collaborative investigation was conducted involving the Patrol Division, Detective Division and the New Haven State's Attorney Office," police wrote in a news release. "During the investigation, it was determined that the victim and the suspect in this case are involved in an intimate relationship. Through the investigation, it was learned that an altercation began between the victim and the suspect. At one point during the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim one time. It was also learned that there is an active protective order in place, where the suspect is the protected party." Police said the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Due to the domestic nature of the investigation, police aren't releasing any names at this time, officials said. The suspect was charged with first-degree assault and interfering with an officer. The suspect was held in lieu of a $175,000 bond. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed in the case. The victim has four active warrants that will be dealt with once the victim is stable and released from medical care, according to police.
