Darien Pride To Host Inaugural Pride Celebration June 12

DARIEN, CT — Darien's inaugural Pride celebration is scheduled for June 12 at Tilley Pond. Co-hosted by Darien Pride The Darien Depot, the family-friendly event will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and include music, entertainment, food trucks, face painting, local vendors, guest speakers and arts and crafts. "Our goal is simply to bring the community together to show that Darien is inclusive. It will be a celebration of love and acceptance for all," said Dan Guller, a Darien Pride Committee member, in a news release. At the event, partygoers can enjoy delicious food from Reddi Rooster, Taqueria Del Valle, Mr. Softee and more. DJ "Big Daddy" Sean Mckee will get the party started with danceable tunes. Throughout the park, activities, community information and treats will be offered by local businesses and organizations. "This is historic. It is the first time Darien will hold a large-scale celebration for Pride. It is absolutely the right step in showing Darien's welcoming and inclusive spirit," said Armel Witthuhn, a Darien Pride committee member, in a news release.
