Description

NEWTON, MA — The City of Newton will celebrate Pride Month this June with a flag raising ceremony on Tuesday, June 1 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held on the lawn of City Hall by the War Memorial. Due to COVID-19 regulations for outdoor events, limited capacity, face coverings, and social distancing will be required. The event will be held rain or shine but in the event of severe weather or unforeseen circumstances, it will be streamed. This year, the Newton Human Rights Commission will be honoring LGBTQ+ health care workers at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and cofounders of Sunbow Zine, a creative platform bringing together art, writing, climate justice, culture, and identity in a space by and for young women and queer artists. To join the in-person ceremony, register here. Residents and business owners are also encouraged to show their support by hanging pride flags in their windows.
