Think of how quickly we could heal this world if more of us were dancing, singing, storytelling and spending time together, celebrating the seasons. Let's do it! Come join us! No experience necessary, no strings or obligations, just hearts gathered in celebration. We survived the pandemic! Let's celebrate the Solstice! What do most of us want to do in the summer? We want to swim, enjoy the sun, play water games, eat fish, and enjoy our highest health and beauty, right? So do the Merfolk! Celebrate the Summer Solstice with the Mermaids and Mermen! Promote wellness and reignite joy in body, mind and spirit. Come play! Dress up, paint your face, be silly. become a Mermaid/Merman, get a healing, tell stories, walk the labyrinth, and find summer joy swimming at Mercer Island! Bring the kiddos! We are going to call the Merfolk! Bring them a sea shell or a pearl or something sparkly! Be a Mer! Wear your seashells, pearls, shiny or iridescent bathing suit, and a fin if you have one! We’re going to play in the water. Towels might be a good idea but meh! Bring your drum or rattle! We'll have a fun ritual with music, water, salt, and scents! Get a mini Mermaid Reiki treatment! Walk the labyrinth! There will be 3 BBQs and we'll have fish (of course!), burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments, s'mores, fruit, and non-alcoholic beverages. Feel free to bring whatever else you like! This is a FREE, family-friendly, body-positive, LGBTQ-friendly, ALL-WELCOMING event. Donations to cover costs gratefully accepted. Hugs and bright blessings! Tickets We are asking for a ticket per person only so we have an accurate head count for space rental, food etc. But the ticket is a donation of whatever amount you feel is right! $5 per person would be awesome but no one will be turned away for lack of funds or a ticket. Our rental agreement says we are limited to 50 people. Go get your tickets early before we sell out! Any minimum age requirements to enter the event? Nope! Children of all ages are invited to come play with us! What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? From I-90 heading east, take the 77th Ave SE exit 7A immediately after the 2nd tunnel, and turn left on 77th Ave SE. Turn right at the stop sign onto N Mercer Way, go through the light at 80th Ave SE. Turn left on SE 26th St. and drive to the end. You want the South lot. Park and follow the signs to "Area C" past the playground. We'll be right at the swim area. From I-90 heading west, take the Island Crest Way exit 7. At top of the ramp, turn right onto SE 26th St. At the stop sign for 84th Ave SE, drive straight into the park. You want the South lot. Park and follow the signs to "Area C" past the playground. We'll be right at the swim area. This park is accessible by bus! Plan your visit by bus using TOTAGO, or consult the schedule for King County Metro route number 204 and Sound Transit route numbers 505 and 554. What can I bring into the event? Whatever your heart desires! Potluck item, tiny gift for the fairies, drum or rattle if you wish! How can I contact the organizer with any questions? We're just accepting donations, so whatever you feel like giving, however you give it (here or at the event) is just fine. Can I update my registration information? Sure! Can I sell things at the event? Unfortunately no. That's part of the rental agreement with the park. But feel free to bring flyers! Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable? Whatever! Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Whatever!
