WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 43-year-old man was shot in the leg in the woods near Hillendale Drive on Sunday morning, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday. At that time, officers responded to the 13400 block of Hillendale Drive to investigate a reported shooting.
The victim told police that he was walking in the woods in the area when he heard a loud noise. The victim then realized he'd been shot in the leg, according to the police report.
The victim contacted an acquaintance who took him to a nearby fire station. The victim was taken to a hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, authorities said.
The police department said the victim was not cooperative with its investigation. Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area, but they did not find any further evidence of a shooting, police said. The victim did not provide further information about what led to the shooting or anyone else who may have been involved.
