FALLS CHURCH, VA — Fairfax County Police identified the passenger who died in a two-car crash on S. George Mason Drive in Bailey's Crossroads early Tuesday morning as a Falls Church woman. Gladis Suyapa Deras, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday. The driver of the car in which Deras was riding, an adult male, was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said. Both occupants of the other car in the crash ran from the scene, but were found later by Fairfax County Police K-9 officers. One of the men was arrested for drunk in public. The other man was taken to the hospital for injuries considered life-threatening. Detectives continue to investigate to determine which man was driving the car at the time of the crash, police said. The fatal crash occurred in the 3700 block of S. George Mason Drive. Details of the investigation will be presented to the Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Office for additional charges.
