ARLINGTON, VA — A man wanted by police in Spotsylvania County was charged with malicious wounding on Friday after hitting a man in the head with a hammer in Clarendon, according to the Arlington County Police Department. The victim was treated at the scene by medics, police said. The suspect provided false identifying information to police and upon properly identifying him, it was determined he was wanted in Spotsylvania County, police said. Kevin Tyler Mays, 19, was arrested and charged with malicious wounding and giving a false identity to a police officer, according to police. The incident occurred in the 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard at about 2:45 a.m. on Friday. Police were dispatched to the location for a report of a fight. When they arrived, police found the victim and the suspect. They learned that during an argument, Mays struck the victim in the head with a hammer. Mays was held in the Arlington County jail without bond.
