BOSTON ā That green haze you saw on your morning commute was pollen, rustled up by gusty winds and steep temperature shifts, a meteorologist said.
According to Accuweather, Boston and most of its surrounding areas are in for an allergy-ridden week, with pollen counts high through at least Monday.
Winds triggered by a back door cold front swept pollen into the sky, StormTeam 5 meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon said. Some North Shore areas saw a temperature drop of about 20 degrees in the span of 10 minutes Tuesday morning, while pollen clouds hung further inland.
The pine pollen is silly this year. Look at this pic sent to me by Grzegorz Dorman from North Billerica! š³š³ pic.twitter.com/VsZxfFbd5iā Pete Bouchard NBC10 Boston (@PeteNBCBoston) May 31, 2022 Showers Wednesday are expected to wash some of the pollen out of the air, Fitzgibbon said.
