Davis City Celebrates Grand Re-Opening Of Senda Nueva And La Plays Parks On June 4

Press release from the City Of Davis: May 26, 2022 The City of Davis announced today that it will host grand re-opening ceremonies at the following two City parks on Saturday, June 4, 2022: •Senda Nueva Park, located along the greenbelt between Eagle Place and Elk Place at 9:00 a.m. •La Playa Park, located at 3709 Ascada Place at 10:00 a.m. City Councilmembers and Recreation and Park Commissioners will be on hand to officially welcome the amenities into play. The City was recognized in 2017 as a national demonstration site for "play on," which promotes physical activity and "pathways for play" that make playgrounds more attractive to children and families. New research supports how infusing play along trails or shared-use paths, such as in parks or along greenways, can dramatically increase the frequency and duration of pathway uses by children and families. The two park renovations were funded by a grant from Gametime and from the Parks Tax Measure and Park Impact Fees from development projects. This is the third year of funding and educational partnership between Gametime and PlayCore. These grants helped leverage City resources to meet its playground replacement schedule goals.
