Man Charged With Firing Gun At Riverhead Apartment Complex: Police

RIVERHEAD, NY — A Mastic Beach man was arrested and charged Tuesday with firing a gun at a Riverhead apartment complex earlier in May, police said. According to Riverhead Town police, on May 20, a call came in about a disturbance involving someone with a gun in the west-side parking lot, near Building J, at the Riverpointe Apartments on East Main Street. Police determined that a single gunshot was fired at the location. Riverhead Police detectives, along with members of the U.S. Marshals Service, conducted an investigation and arrested Messiah Booker, also known as Matthew Booker, 37, police said. Booker was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and one count each of second-degree criminal use of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree menacing, police said.
