Description
I'm a 37 year old single programmer with no kids. I played in a lot of bands in my teens and 20s, I haven't been in one in like a decade apart from a 1-show band I was in when I lived in Tokyo a few years ago. I miss it and want to get back into it!
My drumming chops are probably a little bit rusty but they'll come back!
Some of my favorite bands (and drumming) are:
- Radiohead
- Russian Circles
- Mitski
- Jenny Hval
- Neil Young
- Todd Terje
- Aphex Twin
- Arcade Fire
- Turnstyle
- Jamie XX
- Metronomy
- Here We Go Magic
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Nirvana
- NOFX
- Peach Pit
- Fleetwood Mac
- Nils Frahm
- Chelsea Wolfe
- DIIV
- Grizzly Bear
Here's a band I was in college: https://socialitttttte.bandcamp.com/album/pray-for-mans
I've been in a bunch of bands since then but no real recordings! I would like to get back into recording, and collaborating!
Here's video of my playing drums at a show in Japan a few years ago: https://youtu.be/I4_UBOf8dxs
I liked that band but the guitarist would just show up with existing songs already. I think I prefer the process of jamming together and starting the collaborative song process from there and all working on it from the ground up?
I live near highland park, ideally I would be in a band with other people about my age nearby: HP, Eagle Rock, Silverlake, Echo Park, Mt Washington, Downtown, etc. Don't want to drive to the valley or the westside for practice.
I guess also ideally we would practice once or twice a week? If we get real serious we can rent a lockout since we probably have jobs that pay us enough.
