On Monday, the Veterans Advisory Board will commence Wakefield's Memorial Day Ceremony at 1 p.m. in the Galvin Middle School auditorium. In addition to music, presentations, and readings from members of our community, the event will feature a keynote address from Marion Dennehy, New England Region Vice President of the Gold Star Wives of America. The Massachusetts Medal of Liberty will be presented to John Peach, honoring Seaman 1st Class Chester James Peach, and a proclamation presentation on behalf of the City of Melrose, Town of Saugus, and Town of Wakefield will be given to James (Jay) Pinette.
Memorial Day will impact refuse and recycling collection and delay the pickup schedule by one day for the week. View the schedule of holidays that impact collection. Town Hall will be closed on Monday.
