Description

Host, Bob McKillop, and guests, Sara Trunzo and Stan Keach, each bring a different perspective to this workshop on the process of collaborative songwriting. This will be an interactive workshop, so please bring your questions, share your own experiences and advice to help everyone learn more about the process. All levels are welcome. Bob McKillop has been active in The Maine Songwriters Association since moving to Maine in the first few years of the new century. He loves songwriting and songwriters, and has been working hard to improve his craft over the years. The Nashville country music scene inspires Bob’s interest in co-writing, since that is how most songs in Nashville are born. He has written songs with local Maine songwriters, fellow members of the SongTown.com songwriting community, and other songwriters across the country. Bob is looking forward to learning more about the art and science of cowriting, by volunteering to moderate this workshop. Sara Trunzo is a country and northeastern singer-songwriter who calls Maine home, periodically and perennially. Her third record, Cabin Fever Dream, came out in September 2021 and appeared on Folk Alliance International and Americana radio charts. Also a community organizer and consultant, she is a co-founder of Veggies For All and Waldo County Bounty, both rural food security organizations. A student of co-writing, Sara was still learning the craft in Nashville when the pandemic sent her back north. She will share some of her failures, successes, and insights with the method in person, virtually, and with groups. Stan Keach has been writing songs for almost all his life. Some of Stan’s songs have been recorded by nationally-known bluegrass bands. One co-written song was a National Top Ten Bluegrass Single and was #1 on Sirius XM Radio for a month. He has extensive co-writing experience, including a few songs co-written by bluegrass writers with national reputations. Stan, along with his wife, Liz, and daughter, Carrie, wrote several songs that were used in a professional theater’s production of The Grapes of Wrath. Stan’s songs have won first place in the Maine Songwriters Association competition, and the Podunk Bluegrass Songwriting Contest. Tickets: MSA members: $13.50 Non-members: $15.00
