What to Expect: In this workshop, we will explore why we write, finding the time to write, where to find inspiration, how to put pen to paper, and what to do with our writing once it’s gone from our head to the page. Come enjoy the company of other aspiring creative women+ and learn something new! Bring something to write with and write on. This event is pay what you can, with all proceeds going to benefit FearLess Dallas. Open to all women and gender minorities. About the Facilitator: Heather McKinney is the co-creator and co-host of Sinisterhood alongside the brilliant and hilarious Christie Wallace. Their top-ranked comedy podcast is a proud member of the Cloud10 & iHeart Radio Network. Each weekly episode covers cults, crimes, and creeps with plenty of research, some legal insight, and a lots of laughs. Alongside her husband, Paris, Heather creates and produces award-winning short films and comedy sketches. Dallas-born and Chicago-trained, Heather has been performing and writing comedy since 2007 in Dallas, Chicago, and at comedy festivals across the country. She is a real life licensed lawyer who has worked for one of the world’s largest law firms, performed pro bono work for the Innocence Project, and represented victims of crime at legal aid. She has done scholarly research on the Fourth Amendment and loves making the legal aspects of cases make sense to non-lawyers. When she’s not podcasting, writing humorous essays about her life, or making movies, Heather spends her time listening to audiobooks on 2x speed, slow-jogging while listening to her favorite band, the Backstreet Boys, and re-watching the same episodes of Seinfeld, The Office, and King of the Hill for the millionth time. She lives in East Dallas with Paris and their dogs, Buffy & the Goose. Location Details: This event will be held at Fiction Coffee at Continental Gin in Deep Ellum.
