Choose which date or dates you will be attending. Click the red "SELECT A DATE" button to do this. These are FREE workshops for all ages that are interested.
Sundays: MAY 22 and MAY 29
Wednesdays: MAY 25 AND JUNE 1
Learn about foraging and processing Sonoran Desert edibles like paloverde beans, mesquite beans, barrel cactus fruits and seeds, and making salves, teas, seasonings, and more. We'll work with at least two plants in each session. You'll learn ethnobotany: how local tribes have used these plants for centuries. We are grateful to the Akimel O'odham people for passing this knowledge on. We are living on traditional O'odham (Pima) land.
The Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) is located 2 miles south of my home. It encompasses 640 square miles. These ingenious people have lived with resilience in this challenging environment for centuries.
We'll enjoy sampling prickly pear tea and preparing and eating Sonoran Desert foraged foods. If you haven't tasted mesquite flour before, it will surprise you with its sweetness! We will harvest different edibles from my yard.
I'll email you a liability and photo release form to fill out once you have registered.
These are four FREE events for all ages that are interested.
Donations or purchasing of my products such as creosote salve and prickly pear tea will be appreciated! I accept cash, checks, and Venmo payments.
