Almost exclusively operated by women since the late 1800s, tearooms are directly tied to modern women's history. Providing more than just warm drinks and tasty bites, women found careers, opportunities, and spaces to discuss systemic social change. It was in these establishments women met to discuss suffrage, prohibition, access to education, and so much more.
This series will look at the historical relevance of the tearoom and how these topics have impacted people right here in Dickson County. Each evening will have a theme (see below) and provide a short talk on that topic, serve a curated tea menu, and have an activity. Alcohol will be available for 21+. Everyone is welcome.
