Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: May 27, 2022 The San Diego Superior Court has ordered the conditional release of Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Michael Martinez. If you live in the community of Borrego Springs, the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) has recommended the placement of Michael Martinez at 3406 Running M Road, Borrego Springs, CA 92004. He was convicted of four separate cases including child molest, annoying/molesting a child and lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14. While this address falls within the jurisdiction of the San Diego Sheriff's Department, NEITHER THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE OR THE SEXUAL ASSAULT FELONY ENFORMENT (SAFE) TASK FORCE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SELECTION OF THE PROPOSED SITE. THAT SELECTION PROCESS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DSH AND THE SAN DIEGO SUPERIOR COURT. With the hearing scheduled for July 8, 2022, the SAFE Task Force will be accepting public comments about the proposed placement to be included in the formal response to the court and the Department of State Hospitals. This is your opportunity to support or object to the proposed placement before it is finalized. The District Attorney's Office and SAFE Task Force will submit your comments to the court for the court's consideration. Comments will be accepted between the dates of June 1, 2022 and June 15, 2022.
