Empathetic, organized helper for move

Jobs

New Orleans LA

Description

Hi, and thanks in advance for reading. Shawn and Maria* are founders and managers of a local community arts space. Shawn lives in California and helps with internet tasks like writing this post; Maria is the ringleader and a local who lives next door to the arts space. She owns and manages both properties. Maria is moving some things around (some personal, some from the org) and we need a helper. The gig in a nutshell: Where: Seventh Ward (address to be provided) When: Weds and Thurs 11:30-6 Pay: $25/hr or your proposal The job: Half moving support (packing, loading/unloading) and half nontraditional support job for Maria, who has an organizational disability. The two properties have several rooms which need to be emptied (furniture and sundry items) and moved. Maria requires verbal discussion to, for instance, enter the laundry room, assemble three boxes labeled "goodwill" "storage" "stay", pick up an item and put it in the right box, etc. I know this sounds like everyone, but please assume that something out of the ordinary is happening. The ideal candidate is: - Able-bodied; can lift medium loads for sustained periods - Patient; flexible; organized; takes unexpected direction well; ideally has worked closely with a person with an impairment or disability - [Not a hard requirement] Ideally has a truck or a car for a goodwill and/or storage locker run If you're interested, please text Shawn at 808.203.7216 with any comments on your fit with the ideal candidate we described. Also let me know if you prefer followup via text or phone call. Thank you! * Not her real name, because this post describes personal information about her ability profile.
