ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving child endangerment, DUI, a suspected theft at a senior home, an attempted burglary and driving violations. Here is information from the latest police reports: Endangering child Michael Thorne, 40, of Chicago, was arrested at 4 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and Riverside on charges of DUI, endangering the life of a child, transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of marijuana by a driver and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. He was released on bond. The passenger, who was a minor, was taken into protective custody. She was released to her parent. Theft at senior home A woman said an iPad was missing from her late mother's belongings at Lexington Square, 420 W. Butterfield Road. The suspected theft is believed to have happened between Oct. 25 and Nov. 16. An investigation is pending. DUI Deontay Price, 27, of Maywood, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday at York and Grand on charges of DUI, failure to signal, tinted windows, failure to dim headlights and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. Damage A small vent window on a car's rear passenger side was shattered between Wednesday and Friday in the 800 block of North Adele Street. The glass pane on a rear storm door was shattered between noon and 3 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Myrtle. Attempted burglary An attempted break-in took place between 10 a.m. Thursday and 4 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Caroline Avenue. A window screen was pulled off, and finger smudges were on the window. An investigation is pending. Stolen car An officer saw a stolen car about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Route 83 and St. Charles. The driver entered westbound Interstate 290 and sped away before officers made attempts to stop the driver. Driving violations Henry F. Franklin, 23, of Chicago, was cited about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Roosevelt and Interstate 290 on charges of driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and improper lane usage. He was released on bond. Rutilio Pinzon-Diaz, 29, of Richmond, Va., was cited about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Route 83 and Elizabeth Street on charges of no valid driver's license, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to dim headlights. He was found to have never been issued a driver's license. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
