I grew up playing blues and rock music, got into funk and soul later on, went to college for my BA in music and got exposed to the classical/theory side of things, and now I would like to pool all these influences into something that tries to walk the thin line between what audiences want to hear and what I would like to play as a musician.I am still heavily influenced by the psychedelic/progressive rock of groups such as Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, The Moody Blues, and others of that time. The ideas of through-compositions and concept albums are what I would like to pursue, as well as the more sweaty aspects of funk and rock music.Most importantly, however, is to find people who work well together and respect each other. I've been in plenty of bands, and the #1 reason for any success I've found is having personalities that mesh well. It's not about how good you are, how fast your scale runs, how inventive your chord progressions, etc. To me it's all about finding the right people that work together and can read each other very well. A huge influence in this regard is The Band, their early work and how each member brought something very unique to the table and made an end-product that was folky yet rocky, jazzy yet soulful, etc etc.Attached below is a link to a personal album I created over the past two years. I didn't do it so much for release to a general audience as I did to have material for other potential musicians to hear and decide whether it is a direction they would like to pursue. The album is all bass guitar, with sparse additions of vocals and harmonica. Ideally, the next one would be with a drummer and a guitar player and a keyboardist so I don't have to half-ass rhythm and chords and lead lines on a bass guitar :). Each track on the album has a bit of a different vibe.
