Shifts Available Weekday shifts are 6:45 am – noon, 8:00 am - noon, and 1:45 pm – 7:00 pm Weekend and holiday shifts are 6:45 am – 10:00 am and 3:45 pm – 7:00 pm If you apply for this job we prefer people to stay long term. Responsibilities Good communication skills and a positive attitude are the keys to success in this position. You must be able to work in a team environment to safely care for our dogs in a group setting. Our dogs need constant supervision and care. Your brain must be able to multi-task in a chaotic environment. You will be expected to learn each dog's name, their personalities and behaviors, and what works best for each one (for example, discipline, calming them down, etc.). Although it is a very intense environment, if you have a genuine compassion for dogs this can also be a very rewarding experience. You will come to know and love our dogs and they will learn to trust you, depend on you, and love you right back. Other responsibilities include taking notes about the dogs, cleaning, laundry, walking dogs on leash, bathing dogs, carrying or moving large bags of dog food, as well as various other items associated with the care of the dogs. This position will mainly be working in the back with the dogs, but all of our staff should be able to interact in a positive way with our human clients. Qualifications Must be reliable to work when scheduled Must be able to work weekends and holidays Must be able to read and understand feeding and medication instructions Must be able to fill in charts with feeding/medication/behavior notes Must be prepared for continuous poop scooping Must be able to work in a team environment Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions -- hot, cold, rain, snow, etc. Must be physically able to handle the work, including lifting up to 40 pounds, being on your feet 5 hours or more each day, and able to control large dogs physically if necessary Must have genuine compassion for dogs, as well as great patience Must be able to multi-task in a chaotic environment Must be willing to accept whatever task is needed of them daily And the most important thing, you must be able to care for our dogs as if they are your own! Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: From $14.00 per hour
