Description

Join the Military Women’s Memorial at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum for a special exhibition in honor of our nation's servicewomen. The Military Women’s Memorial invites you to honor and celebrate women who stepped up to serve the nation from the American Revolution to today. On June 10th, just in time for Women Veterans Day, you’re invited to commemorate this momentous occasion with the opening of MWM’s traveling exhibition – the Color of Freedom: Honoring the Diversity of America’s Servicewomen. The exhibition will be on public display at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum from June 10th - June 15th. The June 10th opening event will provide an exclusive viewing of the Color of Freedom exhibit. Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and drinks in the company of leaders and guests from across the military and veteran communities, private industry, and civic service. Exhibition Tour sponsors: Amazon | Iron Mountain About the exhibition: The "Color of Freedom: Honoring the Diversity of America's Servicewomen" will be on display at various locations across the U.S. The 40-foot-long traveling exhibition was created by the Military Women's Memorial with the goal of shedding light on the sacrifices and contributions of a selection of minority women who served in or alongside the U.S. Military throughout history. The interactive display will include the stories of twenty-one servicewomen of color and bring to light the impact that these women made while serving in various branches of the U.S. military. QR codes will enable viewers to access a selection of oral history recordings which were digitized with the support of Iron Mountain Entertainment Services and Iron Mountain’s Living Legacy Initiative. About the Military Women’s Memorial: The Military Women’s Memorial is the only historical repository documenting the service of all women who’ve served in and with the nation’s military, beginning with the American Revolution. Located at the ceremonial entrance to Arlington National Cemetery, it features an education center, interactive exhibitions, a world-class collection of military women’s stories and artifacts, and engaging programs and events for all generations. The year 2022 commemorates the twenty-five years since the Military Women’s Memorial was dedicated and opened to the public, October 18, 1997 – still America’s only major memorial to honor and tell the stories of all of the nation’s women who have served in and with our military, beginning with the American Revolution.
