All Veterans Welcome - Medfield Memorial Day Celebration and Parade on May 30th... A message from American Legion Post 110 Adjutant, Ron Griffin. All Veterans are Welcome to take part in the Medfield Memorial Day Celebration on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th! If there is inclement weather, the entire ceremony will be held in the Dale Street School all beginning at 10am. Weather permitting there will be a Memorial Day Parade which will commence from Janes Avenue beginning at 9:30 AM . If you are taking part in the parade, please arrive before 9:30am to line up. All VETERANS are WELCOME to join Post members and can come attired however they choose, we only request and recommend you wear a veteran type of hat. The Legion 110 Post will lead the parade from Janes Ave.marching to Baxter Park. A Veteran bus will be available for those who cannot or prefer not to march. Riding Veterans will meet at the Senior Center on "One Ice House Road" in Medfield at 9:00 AM. Those veterans will "RIDE" in the Senior bus during the entire parade route. They will have an opportunity to de-board and re-board the bus at each parade stop. Space is limited, so please email Tony Centore ([email protected]) or phone him (508 298 9408) by Friday (5/27) to reserve a seat. Riders will be returned to the Senior center at the conclusion of the days ceremony. The parade Route is from Janes Ave. to Baxter Park. Baxter Park ceremony begins at 10:00 AM. At the conclusion of the Ceremony at Baxter Park the parade will re-form and march to Vine Lake Cemetery. The first stop is at Vine Lake were those who died at sea will be honored. Then the parade continues up to the Legion Lot (at the cemetery flagpole) where another brief ceremony is conducted. The parade then continues to the Dale Street School on Dale Street. A final ceremony is offered following the rising of the American Flag from Half Staff by Scouts from Troop 89. A small refreshment is planned for parade participants and then everyone disperses. Riding Veterans will be transported back to the Senior Center. The American Legion is very grateful to the The Center at Medfield and Council on Aging Director, Roberta Lynch who made their Senior Bus available so that ALL veterans can participate in the Town's Memorial Day activities.
