STAMFORD, CT — Four people were injured in a serious two-car crash that closed Washington Boulevard for several hours early Saturday morning, according to police.
Excessive speed and alcohol are "probable factors" in the crash, said Sgt. Jeffrey Booth of the SPD's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
At approximately 1:10 a.m., a 2017 Infiniti Q50 driven by a 28-year-old Stamford resident was traveling northbound on Washington Boulevard, as was a 2003 Honda Civic driven by a 22-year-old Stamford resident, Booth said.
Booth said the two cars came into contact with each other on Washington Boulevard just north of the intersection with North Street, and they continued northbound until the driver's side of the Infiniti struck a tree. Both cars suffered "significant damage."
A 22-year-old passenger in the Infiniti had to be extricated from the car by the Stamford Fire Department, Booth said.
All three occupants of the Infiniti, as well as the driver of the Honda, were taken by EMS to Stamford Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Infiniti and the extricated passenger were treated for serious injuries, and are listed in stable condition, Booth said.
The driver of the Honda and the other passenger of the Infiniti, a 28-year-old Stamford resident, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The SPD is investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD at 203-977-4712.
