NEW HAVEN, CT — Employing food as an olive branch to bridge the great 900-mile pizza divide, Avelo Airlines served New Haven apizza from Big Green Truck Pizza and Chicago deep-dish on its first flight to the Windy City.
Thursday, Avelo flew its inaugural flights to Washington D.C., the Midwest and the "Research Triangle," Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
The newest flights, for now, round out the total to 14 since Avelo first began flying out of New Haven in November 2021, just six months ago.
The D.C. flight is actually to Baltimore/Washington International Airport, an Uber, train or shuttle ride away from the nation's capital.
