Nine Inch Nails, KennyHoopla, Storm During Boston Calling Day 2

BOSTON, MA — Fans has to get creative on day two of Boston Calling 2022 when severe weather caused a two-hour long, mid-day evacuation. But that didn't stop artists like KennyHoopla, EARTHGANG, Run the Jewels and Nine Inch Nails from getting right back on their feet and giving it their all. KennyHoopla was one of the artists bumped from his original set time due to the storm. Originally set to take to the stage at 4 p.m. and play for an hour, he took to the Red Stage at 6 p.m. and played a 30-minute set. The last minute change didn't seem to faze him as a big crowd gathered around to hear "Hollywood Sucks" and "Estella," the 2020 single that was recorded with Travis Barker. KennyHoopla seemed to really like being in Massachusetts and expressed being genuinely shocked by the crowd size. He showed some Bay State pride when he changed a lyric in "Hollywood Sucks." "Hollywood sucks, I'm moving to Wisconsin is the lyric," but he changed it to "I'm moving to Massachusetts." EARTHGANG kicked off quite the party at 7:30 p.m. on the Blue Stage. The American hip hop due had pretty much everyone in the audience dancing and calling back to them in what ended up being a very engaging set. The highest energy songs included "All Eyes On Me" and "Artificial Ends." Run the Jewels, a hip hop duo consisting of Killer Mike and El-P, played a bunch of their hits that got the crowd rapping along to every word. (Jimmy Bentley/Patch) Nine Inch Nails played their second set on the Green Stage Saturday in place of The Strokes, opening with "Mr. Self Destruct" and "The Day the World Went Away" in a hazy fog of lights and smoke. During the weekend, NIN rocked two David Bowie covers - "I'm Afraid of Americans" and "Fashion" - and ended each night with "The Hand That Feeds," "Head Like a Hole," and "Hurt."
